Specialty finishes can add a unique look to any room in many different styles.
If you can imagine it, there is likely a paint to match and some you may never have even thought of exploring.
Below we have highlighted a few interesting examples to get your ideas flowing.
EXTERIOR GOLD PAINTING
When the ornate work on your temple starts to fade or it’s time to let the world know that your new premises is the embodiment of luxurious, you no longer have to call your local goldsmith, because there is a cheaper and faster alternative – gold paint.
Well, not exactly gold, but an automotive-grade gold pigment based on synthetically produced glass, which creates a glittering sparkle and brilliant optical characteristics, especially when compared to conventional pearlescent pigments.
That is a fancy way of saying that we are dealing with a high-grade coating that will not only look like gold but hold up to the elements as well and according to Porters Paints, the manufacturer of an exterior gold called AquaGILD™ it is “Designed for application to prefab concrete, cement render, prefabricated building panel systems, metal architectural panels, building facades and public art installations. Suitable for decorative exterior elements such as mouldings for building fascia’s and wrought iron finials.”
METALLIC EFFECT
A very popular choice for interior feature walls, a metallic effect will add a touch of class to your home or office, without breaking the budget.
Depending on the exact look that you would like to create with metallic paint, we recommend spraying or using a large brush to create a crisscross pattern.
If you opt for a spray finish, the final look will have a finish, comparable to a flat piece of shimmering metal, whereas a crisscross finish will leave a more textured final product.
RUST EFFECT
This particular finish is perfect for creating a bespoke look in many different settings, such as your home, café, restaurant, hotel or a new garden, this finish will help you to create different styles that reflect “Manhattan loft” or “industrial chic” for example.
Depending on the brand you chooses, rust effect can be live (as in actual rust) which we recommend sealing if you want to avoid rust getting on other things or just simply an effect that can be left unsealed.
CHALKBOARD
With blackboard paint, you can create your very own blackboard wall, ideal for remembering your shopping list or for entertaining your grandkids when they get a spark of imagination. Being water-based, this product can be applied over a suitably primed surface and it can be later painted over if you would like to go back to a normal surface.
